4. Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio)

Dr. Schultz and Calvin Candie are basically interchangeable on this list since they both bring something incredible to their performances in Django Unchained. Where Dr. Schultz is the moral compass of the film Candie is the embodiment of pure, unadulterated evil. Everything that is against Django is manifested in this one performance. Candie is a horrible, racist and childish man and easily the most evil villain Tarantino has ever written. Where Tarantino's villains have always been likable, and usually the hero, Candie is just horrible. He has absolutely no redeeming qualities. DiCaprio just owned this character like no other actor could have by playing Candie as over the top and as horrid as he possibly could. It's performances like this that remind me everyone incredible DiCaprio can be as a character actor when he isn't playing the leading man. As horrible as Candie is try watching one minute of his "Old Ben" monologue where he cuts his hand without being totally transfixed.
