10 Greatest Supporting Roles In Quentin Tarantino Films

2. Jules Winnfield (Samuel L. Jackson)

Granted this one is a little bit of a technicality because I've always viewed Jules and Vincent as co-stars but Samuel L. Jackson was nominated for best supporting character at the 67th Oscars. It was incredibly hard for me to not give the #2 spot to Mia Wallace since Uma Thurman is my favorite actress and Mia is my favorite Tarantino character but I had to give credit where credit was due here. No one can deliver Tarantino's dialogue better than Samuel L. Jackson and no actor can perform better for Tarantino. Jackson brings just the right amount of blaxploitation sensibility and old west hero turning away from the life of evil to make Jules the most compelling character in a movie full of compelling characters. The Ezekiel 25:17 speech at the end of Pulp Fiction may just be the greatest moment in any Tarantino film and that's all thanks to Jackson's delivery. He plays every scene with a commanding tone and once you've seen Pulp Fiction you'll never be able to forget his performance.

My favorite movies are Before Sunrise, Pulp Fiction, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Alien and Her so don't be surprised to see those pop up in my writing from time to time. I'm currently in school for Journalism/English and I have an obsession with all things cinematic on the side.
