On the other side of the Avengers split was Captain America. Morally against the idea of the Sokovia Accords, still believing that the Avengers were the best people for the job as they were, and in as fierce defence of Bucky as ever, Steve was never going to back down from Tony.

Bucky fought with Steve to try and clear his name, while Sam was to Captain America what Rhodey was to Iron Man – the loyal friend that could always be counted on. Wanda no longer wanted to be controlled by anyone, while Clint was brought out of retirement to help Steve, and like Spider-Man, Ant-Man was just happy to be there.

Most of the team ultimately lost their battle, as Sam, Wanda, Scott, and Clint ended up on The Raft. However, this was the sacrifice they all agreed to make so that Steve and Bucky could escape. In order for the team to win as a whole, some of them had to lose.

Their ace in the hole was Natasha. She never seemed to be wholly in support of Team Iron Man from the start, and ultimately her conscience got the better of her when she defected and stopped Black Panther from pursuing Captain America and the Winter Soldier.
