In 2014, a completely unknown entity to mainstream viewers, and even obscure in the eyes of comic book fans, came to life in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Led by Peter Quill, the Guardians of the Galaxy went on to become one of the franchise’s most popular properties.

The team was originally five misfits who came together with the common goal of stopping Ronan the Accuser from getting his hands on the Orb and destroying Xandar. Though they all had their own reasons to begin with, they became a team, and in time, a family.

Just months later they were called into action once again, as they were forced into saving the galaxy a second time. The team grew by two members, before Yondu ultimately gave his life to save Peter. They all knew the risks of blowing Ego up, and any one of them was ready to die to save the world.
