10 High-Profile 2019 Movies You Should Be Worried About
5. Terminator 6 (November 22)
The Movie:
Deadpool director Tim Miller helms the latest entry in the long-running sci-fi franchise, with James Cameron and Linda Hamilton both back on board for the first time since Terminator 2. Arnold Schwarzenegger also reprises his signature role as the title character.
Why You Should Be Worried:
Because there hasn't been a good Terminator movie since 1991.
Much like its protagonist, a new Terminator project is always out there. It can’t be bargained with. It can’t be reasoned with. It doesn’t feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until the franchise is dead. Which at this rate, it never will be.
The return of James Cameron as producer to the series he created is a more than welcome one, but his presence on Alita: Battle Angel hasn't exactly inspired much confidence in that project. Audiences have been burned by the franchise several times now, and its going to take one hell of a movie to get them back on side.
Cameron, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton will be enough to win the die-hards over, but Tim Miller remains a relatively unknown quantity. Sure, Deadpool was a hit, but that had more to do with the context of the character than the direction, which frequently felt flat and pedestrian.
Look at it this way: this is going to be the third time in ten years that Hollywood have told us that an upcoming Terminator movie was to be 'the first installment in a new trilogy'. Remember the definition of insanity?
