10 Highest-Grossing Movies Of 2015 (So Far) - Ranked From Worst To Best
4. Avengers: Age Of Ultron
Avengers: Age Of Ultron came burdened with massive expectations; as the follow-up to one of the most highly-anticipated movies in history that smashed countless box office records during its theatrical run, the pressure was on writer/director Joss Whedon to somehow deliver something bigger, bolder and better than its well-regarded predecessor.
While Age Of Ultron is undoubtedly one of the better entries in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, offering plenty of jaw-dropping action scenes and character moments, at times there is simply too much going on. Which is to be expected when your cast features the returning core Avengers, along with new characters Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, Vision and Ultron, not to mention recurring MCU characters including War Machine, Falcon, Maria Hill and Erik Selvig. It may be overstuffed and glaringly obvious that a number of plot points were left on the cutting room floor, but the movie is still top quality blockbuster entertainment.
While Age Of Ultron couldn't quite top the domestic opening weekend of the first movie, a $191.3m debut is still an incredible number, and little more than six weeks after its international roll-out the superhero sequel has already earned well over $1.3bn worldwide, and is on course to at least match the $1.5bn of the first Avengers, reasserting Marvel Studios' credentials as the biggest brand in the business.
