9. The Lone Ranger
Based off the popular American character of graphic novel, radio show, and paper-back fame, The Lone Ranger is Disney's latest family action movie. It has seen its fair share of problems. It suffered through development hell and there was a time when many thought the movie would never be seen in theatres. How times have changed. With an estimated $250 million behind it, what a failure it would be if the movie under-performed. It will likely see a big opening weekend as the film features Armie Hammer (The Social Network) and Johnny Depp (you know who he is). Behind the scenes Director Gore Verbinski (Pirates of the Caribbean Trilogy, Rango) hopes to bring bring Disney's The Lone Ranger as a successful tentpole film so they may start a franchise. Johnny Depp gears up to bring us another eccentrically memorable performance as Tonto, a native-american/aboriginal. The film opens in North America July 3rd and the UK August 9th.
