4. Star Trek Into Darkness
Star Trek's reboot by J.J Abrams brought the legendary series back into popular culture relevancy. Once a guilty pleasure, Star Trek, along with superheroes/comic books, are now considered "cool." The first instalment of the series was accessible and enjoyable for all, and not just for trekkies. There is no reason to assume Abrams and company won't provide the same here. Chances are, they are only going to improve. With the world and characters of the Enterprise now set in motion, the intergalactic villainy will only worsen. The original cast remain intact (Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto etc) as Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock) joins the fun as the film's primary antagonist. Rumours of his character's true identity have sparked debates across the internet, so if you don't mind spoilers, the rumours are easy enough to find via google. A few months ago I was lucky enough to view the IMAX prologue and it does not disappoint. I predict Cumberbatch steals the show and becomes a big name in Hollywood, already well known in Britain for his portrayal of Sherlock Holmes. Interestingly enough, this will likely be J.J Abrams final Star Trek film as director. Likely returning to produce the announced Star Trek 3, Abrams signed on to helm a brand new Star Wars trilogy, his admitted favorite between the two. Trek Into darkness in the US and UK May 17th. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=diP-o_JxysA
