Where do you begin with the behind the scenes of The Room? It's one of the most baffling movie productions ever, with lead actor Greg Sestero writing an entire book about it which only makes the viewing experience more bizarre.

First of all, director Tommy Wiseau funded the entire film himself, spending $6 million of his own personal fortune. And yes, you read that right: the movie cost $6 million, and absolutely none of that money appears on screen.

Why was it so expensive? Well for one, almost every actor had several understudies, and in one strange case detailed in Sestero's book, Wiseau replaced one of the actors but didn't want to tell him he was fired, so he filmed each of that character's scenes two separate times with each actor.

Wiseau also couldn't decide if he should shoot The Room on film or video, so he figured why not both? He purchased two cameras, one film and one digital, and using a custom made apparatus, filmed the entire movie with both cameras next to each other. Now you can start to see where that $6 million went.

According to the crew, the original script was even more incomprehensible than the finished project, with it being edited on set by the actors. So the dialogue you see in the movie is the cleaned up version. Try to wrap your brain around that.
