In 1987, Michael Caine was not available to accept his Academy Award win for Hannah and Her Sisters. He was busy filming one of the worst movies ever made.

Yes, Caine was called in at the last minute because the studio demanded a reshoot of the ending of Jaws: The Revenge. This was actually after the film had already premiered in the United States, but audiences hated the ending so much that the studio decided to film a new one for the foreign markets. The new ending was apparently filmed just five days after the movie opened in America.

The new ending sucks too, by the way, so it wasn't even worth it.

Caine has gone on record calling this one of his paycheck films, and he also had an absolutely incredible quote when later asked about his involvement. "I have never seen it, but by all accounts it is terrible," Caine said. "However, I have seen the house that it built, and it is terrific."

He also said that the movie "will go down in my memory as the time when I won an Oscar, paid for a house and had a great holiday. Not bad for a flop movie."
