7. Jamie Lee Curtis Was Born A Hermaphoridte
Here's a Hollywood myth that everyone believes not because they especially want to, but simply because it is within the realm of possibility, and there's such a great distance from the event itself that it's almost impossible to substantiate for sure either way. The myth suggests that Jamie Lee Curtis was in fact born a hermaphrodite; that is, she was born with both male and female sex organs, and her parents had her undergo surgery that removed the male organ. The myth usually comes from someone who claims to know someone who worked at the hospital where Jamie Lee was born, and these people usually suggest that the story behind her name is that Janet Leigh and Tony Curtis gave her a female and male name to correspond with the nature of her condition. Supporting "evidence" includes the fact that Curtis adopted her children, while some rather unfairly suggest that the female offspring of two of the best-looking movie stars in history should have been "better looking" (a ridiculous claim as anyone who has seen Curtis strip off in True Lies will attest to). Still, it's one that continues to persist, while Curtis refuses to talk about it (no doubt fueling it further in the process).
