Chris Hemsworth first came to the attention of movie fans with his appearances in Star Trek and The Cabin In The Woods but for most of us he's best known for playing Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While the stand alone Thor movies aren't necessarily among the best of the series, his performance in the Avengers movies gets the character just right. Hemsworth has followed in the footsteps of Russell Crowe and Heath Ledger, taking a route to superstardom via Australian soap operas. After a short stint on Neighbours he built up a significant fan base during his time playing Kim Hyde in Home And Away, wooing countles teenage girls with his boyish good looks. Attempts to branch out from his superhero image have been met with a comparative lack of success (this year's Blackhat was particularly disappointing), although with In The Heart Of The Sea due out this December there's a good chance he'll get the recognition he deserves for doing something other than hammer-wielding.
