10 Horror Anthologies You Must See Before You Die

3. Body Bags

Body Bags Mark Hamill

Body Bags is the twisted brainchild of two of the horror movie genre’s biggest names – Halloween director John Carpenter and Tobe Hooper, the mind behind The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.

Creepy, gory and ever so slightly camp the three stories featured centre around a young woman stalked at her gas station job by a slasher killer, a man whose narcissism proves an unlikely means for alien invasion and a haunted eyeball. Yes, you read that right.

Tying the trio of tales together is a spooky little segment interjected between stories that features Carpenter himself providing narration as a demented morgue attendant and concludes with its own great twist ending.

Body Bags boasts a tonne of cameos from horror movie talents too including Sam Raimi, Greg Nicotero, Wes Craven and David Naughton. Even Haddonfield – the stalking ground of Michael Myers in Carpenter’s Halloween – makes an appearance.

Standout Segment:

The highlight of the trio is ‘The Eye’ which stars Mark Hamill as a baseball star who unfortunately loses an eye in a car accident. Luckily for him, he gets an eye transplant. Unluckily for him, the donor eye came from a recently executed serial killer and as anyone who’s seen a horror featuring similarly possessed body parts knows that usually doesn’t bode too well for the recipient.
