10 Horror Characters That Appeared Outside Their Own Movies

3. Chucky - WCW Monday Nitro

Wrestling and horror have often found ways to co-exist across history.

The characters of Kane and The Undertaker are both heavily inspired by slasher villains and, in 2021, a match to promote Zack Snyder's Army of the Dead featured wrestlers dressed as zombies surround the ring.

Although, the less we talk about that embarrassing disaster, the better.

When it comes to the ultimate example of wrestling and horror coming together, it has to be this surreal moment from an episode of WCW Monday Nitro in October 1998.

Whilst something completely unrelated was happening, Chucky suddenly appeared on screen to accost wrestler Rick Steiner and interviewer "Mean" Gene Okerlund. The two sides traded barbs - which was awkward, as the Chucky portion was clearly pre-recorded - and then that was it.

No follow-up, no nothing.

This was all done to shamelessly promote the upcoming picture Bride of Chucky and it remains one of the oddest moments that pro wrestling has ever seen.

Not odd enough to put WWE off though, as they brought in the murderous doll for their NXT Halloween Havoc events in both 2021 and 2022.

Wait, Rick Steiner's kid was at both of those events! Maybe they did pay the 1998 segment off after all.
