10 Horror Films Ruined by WTF Endings

3. 10 Cloverfield Lane

28 Years Later Ending Bad
Bad Robot

Though 10 Cloverfield Lane is a follow-up to Cloverfield, it feels like a separate entity, since it barely connects to the first instalment. Rather than dealing with a kaiju rampaging across the city, the sequel's heroine, Michelle finds herself locked in a bunker with an unstable man called Howard.

Even though it was disappointing how 10 Cloverfield didn't expand on the original plot, it provided an intense and enthralling story, thanks to its sharp writing, focus on atmosphere, and John Goodman's chilling performance.

But the same cannot said about the last ten minutes. After Michelle escapes from her captor, it looks like the credits are going to roll any second.

Out of nowhere, Michelle finds herself confronted with a hostile extraterrestrial. Although this scene feels like it was bolted on to tie in with the first film, it doesn't make sense. Sure, Cloverfield also centred around an alien, but it had no resemblance to this creature whatsoever.

If 10 Cloverfield Lane concluded after Michelle left the bunker, it would've been perfect.
