10 Horror Films You Didn't Know Were Being Remade

6. Night Of The Comet

Night of the Comet sure is a whole lotta fun - a post-apocalyptic horror film in which a comet has turned the majority of the world's population into either dust or zombies.

Between its colourful visuals, quirky tone, and appealing performances from its cast, Night of the Comet was a major box office success, grossing $14.4 million against a mere $700,00 budget, and even influencing the creation of Buffy the Vampire Slayer's titular protagonist.

The film has remained a passionately adored cult fave ever since its 1984 release, and so in 2018 it was finally announced that a remake was in the works.

The next year, filmmaker Roxanne Benjamin (There's Something Wrong with the Children) was hired to write and direct, and though we've heard precious little since, earlier this year Benjamin insisted the project was still alive and going through the development process.

Given the original's aggressively '80s style, it'll be interesting to see how the remake updates the vibe and satirical undercurrent to suit a presumably contemporary setting.
