2025 is a big year for the Conjuring franchise, mainly because 2025 will supposedly see the franchise call it a day.

Set for a September release, The Conjuring: Last Rites has been confirmed as being one final outing for the series, tying up any loose ends and seeing the Conjuring franchise sail off into the sunset. Of course, "final" doesn't always necessarily mean "final" in the world of horror - see: Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare or Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter - but, as per director Michael Chaves, Last Rites is designed to serve as a finale for the wider Conjuring Universe that currently consists of three main Conjuring movies, three Annabelle pictures, and a couple of so-so Nun offerings.

Plot details have been kept hush-hush as of this writing, although franchise favourites Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson are once again returning as Lorraine and Ed Warren, the husband-and-wife paranormal investigators at the heart of the previous three Conjuring films.

Now, 2023 did see a Conjuring TV series in development for HBO Max, but all's ominously quiet on that front, so it remains to be seen whether that ever sees the light of day.
