10 Horror Franchises That Need A Revival

3. Wrong Turn

Wrong Turn 2
Fox

This might be a bit of a controversial choice, considering that the Wrong Turn series is hardly iconic, and honestly, a lot of people probably only remember the rather naff 2003 original, in which a gang of attractive youngsters are offed by a tribe of deformed cannibals.

And in fact, of the six (!) movies released to date, only Wrong Turn 2: Dead End, is much good at all. With its far campier and more self-aware tone, not to mention its focus on ridiculous gore, it's pretty much the inverse of the rest of the franchise.

If a filmmaker was brought aboard to replicate that tone and re-imagine the series as a tongue-in-cheek splatter-fest, it definitely has potential to become a cult fave. Sure, it might struggle to survive in cinemas, but given the low budgetary requirements, it could certainly thrive on VOD or even on Netflix.

Franchise creator Alan B. McElroy did recently claim that a remake is in fact in the works, but honestly, there's so little esteem for the original film - which was only modestly successful at the box office - that it's hard to take that seriously at all.

A reboot that hews closer to the sequel's style and mood, though, could be a ton of fun.
