6. Possessor - Vos Kills Her Family And Continues Being An Assassin

In this slick thriller from Brandon Cronenberg, Tasya Vos is an assassin who carries out her hits by possessing peoples' minds via a swanky sci-fi device. However, from the very beginning it's clear something is wrong with the process.

Repeated use of the mind-melding technology leads to a breakdown in the separation between possessor and host, leading Vos's employers to worry about her ability to carry out missions. They're proven right when she's given a new assignment in the body of a man named Colin, tasked with killing Colin's girlfriend and the girlfriend's father.

This time, her new host fights back, and Colin enters Vos's mind, finding out where she lives, regaining control and holding her family hostage.

However, the twist is that, on one level, she's kind of ok with Colin killing her husband and child.

Her family is the one thing that's stopped her committing fully to her work - and partly the reason Colin was able to overpower her in the first place - and in this final moment she frees herself from this human burden.

With her family gone along with all her remaining ties to reality, the film closes with Vos slipping back into the program to live out the rest of her days vacant and alone, nothing more than a husk hopping from body to body.
