10 Horror Movie Characters Who Did Everything Right And Still Failed

Considering that Smile's protagonist Rose Cotter (Sosie Bacon) spends the movie being tormented by a trauma demon, she conducts herself about as rationally as can be realistically expected.

First and foremost, she figures out what's going on relatively quickly and studiously investigates the curse plaguing her with a fair degree of caution. 

While some might argue that Rose could've been smarter by killing someone in front of a witness, in turn passing the curse on and saving herself, can we really blame her for not wanting to ruin two other lives in order to save her own?

On the balance of circumstances, Rose does pretty much everything "right" - she even selflessly attempts to kill the demon by dying herself in isolation, preventing it from feeding on the trauma of a witness.

But alas, Rose's ex Joel (Kyle Gallner) inadvertently foils this plan by tracking her down and witnessing her burn herself to death.
