Could this list really be complete without Charlie's decapitated head making an appearance? One of the best shock moments in horror movies of recent memory was born when poor little Charlie stuck her head out the car window for some air - only to get a face full of telephone pole instead. Nasty.

Hereditary follows the Graham family in the wake of grandmother Ellen passing away, as mother Annie tries to deal with the grief amidst family life with her two children, Peter and Charlie, and her husband, Steve. It soon becomes apparent that the secretive Ellen isn't quite finished interfering with the Graham's life, and death is no barrier to her intervention, with a strange supernatural influence taking hold of their home.

And then, it takes hold of Charlie's head too. In a dizzying scene where Charlie suffers from an allergy attack and has to be driven to hospital by her high brother, he veers off road to avoid a deer and seals her fate with one sickening thud. Whilst that horrible nauseating feeling of 'something bad happening' is present the whole way through, there's no way you're expecting this outcome. Especially when the marketing sold Charlie as an integral presence throughout!
