10 Horror Movie Endings That Pissed Everyone Off
7. A Convoluted Mess - Prometheus
Prometheus is a good movie. Ridley Scott directs the hell out of it. Noomi Rapace as hero Elizabeth Shaw and Michael Fassbender as villainous android David are great additions to the canon. The alien birthing scene is gnarly.
It's mostly a great time. Mostly.
Where it does start to fall to bits is the end. Rather than answer any of the intriguing questions brought up previously, the climax devolves into highlighting the film's worst qualities: the nonsensical characters and a script that was clearly chopped up during production.
First there's the appearance of the Engineer - a godly figure so much of the movie revolved around - who awakens and plays the role of... a basic monster. That's fine, but having no further reveals about his species' motivations or background is incredibly disappointing.
Then there's the re-appearance of a presumed dead Peter Weyland, whose appearance just adds more questions to a script that barely doles out answers.
Finally there's the stupidity of the action scenes. So much has been said about the team running in a straight line away from the falling ship so I won't go on here about it other than to say: yeah, it's dumb.
The climax is basically one big tease for the second movie - which makes it sting more that Alien: Covenant threw so many of these threads away.
