10 Horror Movie Heroes Who Made Everything Worse

6. Jeff - Saw III

Tommy Jarvis Friday The 13th

It's impossible not to feel bad for Saw III's protagonist, Jeff. Not only was his son killed by a reckless driver, that driver got away scot-free due to an incompetent judge and an eyewitness who refused to testify. Jeff fell into such a deep depression, his wife left him.

So, when Jigsaw gives Jeff the chance to come face-to-face with those who wronged him while taking part in his "test", we assume the grief-stricken father will have his vengeance. However, Jeff refuses to be a pawn in Jigsaw's sick game, and tries to save each person who destroyed his life.

Despite Jeff's noble intentions, he makes every wrong decision imaginable. Even though he tries to rescues the eyewitness from her death-trap, he's way too slow. Although he frees Judge Halden from his trap, he accidentally blows his face off shortly after! When he confronts his boy's killer, Jeff tries to free him, but only after the machine that he's attached to breaks his arms, legs, and neck.

Out for blood, Jeff finds Jigsaw, who's undergoing brain surgery, and slits his throat. To Jeff's horror, he realises the surgeon is his wife and is wearing a collar that's programmed to explode if Jigsaw's heart stops. By killing Jigsaw, Jeff inadvertently blows his wife's head off.

As Jigsaw dies, he plays a recording, revealing Jeff's daughter has been kidnapped as punishment for failing his test.
