3. Sarah - Cobweb
Cobweb is actually a solidly creepy horror romp up until its less-assured third act, where young Peter (Woody Norman) finally comes face to face with his "sister" Sarah, who claims she was abandoned within the walls of the family home by their parents (Lizzy Caplan and Anthony Starr).
When Sarah is finally revealed on-screen, though, she's shown to be a spider-like humanoid creature with large eyes. The film's evidently tight budget couldn't fully realise this vision, and so Sarah is depicted here as an uncanny-in-a-bad-way VFX calamity.
The cartoonish texturing of her face looks more like a TikTok filter than something you'd expect to see in a Hollywood movie, and the fact that Sarah is generally concealed in darkness is a surely blatant attempt to cover for the iffy CGI.
A subtler approach with practical makeup was probably the right way to go, and if that wasn't achievable either, then maybe don't even bother showing her face at all?
