10 Horror Movie Musicals You Simply Have To See

5. Anna And The Apocalypse

If Shaun of the Dead, Cooties, Buffy’s Once More with Feeling episode and Krampus had a steamy evening together, Anna and the Apocalypse would be the offspring.

Leaving school and getting ready to go to university is a tricky enough process (what kind of pencil should a prospective lawyer use?!), but having to do that whilst a zombie apocalypse breaks out? It probably makes it much harder. This is the reality faced by titular protagonist Anna, who is played brilliantly by Ella Hunt. Her solution to this problem? Sing, of course!

Working as a brilliant film and as a brilliant musical, Anna and the Apocalypse is a fun romp, that’s splattered in all the blood and guts you could hope for in a zombie film. What makes it truly special however, is that it is rooted in genuinely believable and likable characters that you can imagine meeting in your own small hometown. That is no mean feat, considering the grandiose nature of both musicals and apocalypse movies.

Plus, it’s a Christmas movie! So you can turn off Die Hard this year and give this little gem a try.
