10 Horror Movie Openings That Pissed Everyone Off
6. Kristen Gets Recast - A Nightmare On Elm Street 4: The Dream Master
A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors is practically miraculous as horror threequels go, and is largely accepted to be one of the series' better entries despite its flaws.
One of the chief reasons for this is a riveting performance by a young Patricia Arquette as protagonist Kristen Parker, a capable psychic who helps fend Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund) off.
Kristen survived the events of the film and was widely expected to return for the fourth film, The Dream Master, only for fans to be bamboozled with the character being suddenly recast.
In the film's opening scene, we see that Kristen is no longer played by Arquette - who had been trying to transition into more "serious" acting and turned down the offer to return - but a new actress, Tuesday Knight.
That's no shade against Knight, who does totally fine in the role, but Arquette did such a wonderful job in Dream Warriors that it was a real shame not to see her back for the sequel.
Knight never quite forged the same connection with the audience, and so we felt less when Kristen died later on in the movie.
