10 Horror Movie Parodies You've Never Seen

The Final Girls centres a young woman called Max processing the death of her mother, Nancy - a legendary scream queen in the 1980s. So, when she and her friends get sucked into Nancy's most famous slasher, Max's group realise they are being hunted by the movie's killer. To avoid meeting a grisly fate, the gang try and find a Final Girl, believing she's the only one who can defeat their pursuer.

Even though the best slashers are rife with cliches, every one of them works to this movie's advantage. Max's gang keep pointing out tropes like how the blood looks like corn syrup or how the characters are always murdered after having sex. If this meta-humour was overdone, it would become tiresome very quickly. Luckily, The Final Girls never relies on these gags and instead, focuses on the chemistry between the ensemble and hilarious one-liners, especially from Alex Devine and Thomas Middleditch.

Because The Final Girls pokes fun at how cheesy the dialogue is and how every character acts like an idiot, you should enjoy it, even if you're not usually a fan of the genre.
