Not quite as horrifying as the other entries on this list, the difficulty of trying to crack Dave’s maze might seem more manageable. Really though, it could be the most difficult of all!

With lots of horrors you can start anticipating certain outcomes and solutions based on tropes and similar things you’ve seen before; with Dave Made a Maze, however, there’s no precedent on how things will play out.

The titular Dave is a thirty-something artist down on his luck and without inspiration. When he builds a maze inside his home out of cardboard and tape, he unknowingly unleashes quite an evil. A group of Dave’s friends (including his girlfriend, Anne) enter the maze, stunned by how it is larger on the inside. Whilst it starts as mysterious and beautiful, the deeper into the maze the group go, the scarier it gets.

It’s full of monsters, traps and deadly tricks, all results of Dave’s sprawling imagination. When things look so deceptively non-threatening, and even death itself looks surreal, it could be very easy to get confused and lose focus.

Finding your way to the maze’s heart and your freedom is essential, but with all manner of completely unpredictable obstacles along the way, you may find yourself soon being consumed by the cardboard to never emerge.
