10 Horror Movie Secrets You Didn’t Know

2. The Craft - The Filmmakers’ Secret Weapon

Soon to be remade by horror super-producer Jason Blum's unstoppable juggernaut Blumhouse, The Craft is an iconic slice of cheesy nineties teen horror which deserves to be mentioned alongside the more celebrated likes of I Know What You Did Last Summer and Scream. Unlike those efforts, The Craft was no slasher, instead focusing on a set of teenage witches whose dabbling in dark arts gets the better of them.

A fusion of Heathers and Carrie, the flick is a cheesy classic which features superb work from stars Fairuza Balk, Rachel True, Robin Tunney, and Scream's own Neve Campbell. However the filmmakers took a surprising amount of care when putting this one together (well, surprising if compared to John Carpenter's winging it attitude).

The filmmakers hired Pat Devin, a practicing Wiccan, to ensure accuracy in the flick's depictions of witchcraft, and the real life witch was happy to report that few artistic liberties were taken and her suggestions were always graciously received. Devin also wrote the incantations featured in the film to further safeguard the film's accuracy and attention to detail.
