10 Horror Movie Sequels That Pissed Everyone Off

6. Omen IV: The Awakening

The Descent Part 2
20th Century Fox

Omen III: The Final Conflict follows the Antichrist, Damien Thorn, as he prepares to initiate Armageddon. Even though Sam Neill is excellent at portraying Damien with a calm menace, this threequel is let down by a weak script and a lack of genuine scares. The Final Conflict may have been a disappointment but at least it wrapped up all the loose ends as it concluded with Damien being defeated and the apocalypse being reverted.

But ten years later, the franchise decided to spurt out a follow-up called Omen IV: The Awakening, which centres around Damien's daughter, Delia. Because this is the first film in the franchise to focus on a character besides Damien, you would think it would try and go in a bold, new direction. Instead, it rehashes every plot point from the original so blatantly, it's practically a remake.

But not only is The Awakening bereft of any tension or creativity, it's utterly non-sensical. Because Delia is Damien's spawn, you'd assume she's the new Antichrist. But in the climax, we learn the The Antichrist is Alexander - a twin embryo removed from Delia's body and implanted into her adoptive mother, Karen. Because Delia was the focus of the entire story, this last-minute twist makes her character feel completely pointless.
