Look, you shouldn't be too harsh on movie shots that only appear in the trailer. As the Marvel Cinematic Universe has proven, trailer-only sequences are effective at keeping plot points secret. On top of that, a change in direction during post-production may lead to several trailer shots being axed.

With that said, Predators' promotions rubbed people the wrong way since there was one image that teased a very different movie than what we saw.

Nimrod Antal's sci-fi thriller revolves around a bunch of killers who are forced to fight a group of predator aliens on their homeworld. Although previous instalments usually had the protagonist squaring off against a singular enemy, Predators cranked it up a few notches as the ensemble was supposedly waging war against a whole planet of Preds.

Based on one shot of Adrian Brody's character being targeted by 15 laser sights, it was assumed the antiheroes would battle an army of brutal beasties.

Instead, the ensemble never fights more than a couple of dreadlocked brutes at once.

Producer Robert Rodriguez confessed that the multi-laser shot was created purely for the trailer, which was manipulative and disingenuous.
