When Robert Englund's Freddy Krueger, one of the most iconic and instantly recognisable villains in the history of the horror genre, was first introduced in 1984, there was a clear reason and motivation for his killings. Simply, he targeted the children of the parents who had once burned him to death.

However, in his return just one year later, this was seemingly abandoned. He brought Jesse Walsh (Mark Patton) into his crosshairs, but though he tormented him, he first possessed him to kill others in the real world, where previously he had no power since his death.

The first kill he made in Jesse's skin was that of Coach Schneider (Marshall Bell), a hard-nosed and hated teacher at Jesse's school. Of course, it's not unreasonable to dislike a teacher at Jesse's age, but Schneider was a bad man, and was about to do bad, unspeakable things to Jesse after the two bumped into each other in a gay nightclub.

Before this could happen, Freddy possessed Jesse, and used the gym equipment as well as his trademark bladed glove to kill the teacher, though quite why isn't exactly clear. This wasn't any of the parents who he felt had wronged him, and if anything Schneider was assisting in hurting Jesse, yet still Freddy saved the young man before continuing to torture and haunt him himself.
