10 Horror Movie Villains Who Were Completely Unprepared

6. The Purge - The Purgers

While no expert on the subject, this writer would posit that those planning on invading the homes of others on Purge Night, armed with vicious weaponry and murderous intentions, would expect a certain level of resistance. Nobody likes being dragged out of bed and murdered in the middle of the night by a gang of bloodthirsty psychopaths.

The first indicator of the Purgers' complete lack of readiness for their sadistic rampage is the fact that despite the Purge being based in America, the intruders actually carry relatively little heavy firepower. Readers will recall that iconic scene from Indiana Jones; an axe or similar implement may look good and terrifying but is no match for a loaded gun.

The Purgers also proceed to laugh and merrily make their way around the inside of the Sandin house in the franchise's first movie with the abandon and restraint of a child skipping around a playground. Granted, giving each other piggybacks and giggling wickedly as they go about their sinister business gives them a distinctly terrifying unhinged aura but what happens when they actually run into one of the house's residents? Loe and behold, James Sandin does not see the funny side of matters and obliterates a pair guilty of the aforementioned offenses with a shotgun.

The final, and perhaps most egregious, instance of poor preparation from the Purgers is the manner in which they allow themselves to be taken by surprise and killed by the Sandin's neighbors. A fairly basic rule of Purge Night? Don't forget: you're not the only people purging.
