It's a double vampire bonus! Hooray!

Since his first appearance in Bram Stoker's 1897 novel, Count Dracula has inspired countless adaptations, knock-offs, and cereal mascots. The ultimate vamp is one of horror's go-to baddies and his never name fails to create intrigue or draw a crowd.

That might be why two separate upcoming movies will be utilising the bloodsucker's box office power.

The Last Voyage of the Demeter (set for an August 11th 2023 release) is based on a single chapter from Stoker's book. In it, the crew of the titular ship are haunted by the Count as he makes his journey to Whitby.

It's a very exciting premise, one that will hopefully make the character scary again after decades of parody. As for the second Dracula movie in development, that might undo all of the first one's hard work.

Renfield is an upcoming horror-comedy starring Nicholas Hoult as the undead aristocrat's servant. And who will be playing Dracula in this film? None other than Nicolas goddamn Cage.

Two movies, two very different depictions of one of horror's most enduring villains. 2023 should be a very interesting year for vampire diehards.
