10 Horror Movies That Aren’t As Bad As Everyone Says

8. Burying The Ex

Released during a period of peak zombie burn out, it's understandable that critics compared 2014's Burying the Ex to the year before's YA adaptation Warm Bodies, and the same year's Life After Beth, and the then-upcoming Nina Forever...

But despite the crowded marketplace, Burying the Ex is an underrated rom zom com that makes up in charm what it lacks in innovation.

The film follows a meek misfit played by Anton Yelchin as he puts off breaking up with Twilight star Ashley Greene, only for a well-timed crash to do the dirty work for him. However, once our hero is done grieving and ready to move on and romance future star Alexandra Daddario, his ex returns from the grave for some truly creepy clinginess...

This comeback from Gremlins director/ horror comedy icon Joe Dante deserved better than the lukewarm reviews it received upon release, with a universally game cast and tight, funny script.

Daddario shows some of the horror comedy promise she built on in this year's I Summon the Darkness whilst Yelchin is likeable as ever, but Greene is the funny, scary, and enthralling revelation in this underrated gem.

Cathal Gunning hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
