10 Horror Movies That Could Have Ended After 10 Minutes
4. Wolf Creek
Wolf Creek is an Australian film that is loosely based on the real life backpacker murders by Ivan Milat. It sees three backpackers trapped in the Australian outback, at the mercy of sadistic killer, Mick Taylor.
After experiencing car trouble late at night, the three welcome the help of Taylor, who tows the car back to his camp and offers them food and drink. Of course, things take a turn for the worse and the trio are drugged, only to awaken to a world of horrors. Liz, one of the backpackers, is bound and gagged, and can hear her friend Kristy being tortured.
After breaking free and freeing Kristy, Liz gets a hold of Mick's rifle and shoots him through the neck. It is only a flesh wound, however, and not a lethal blow. To give credit where it's due, Liz does attempt to follow up with a killing shot while Mick is downed, but the rifle is out of ammo.
Why stop there though? If the gun is out of ammo, nothing is stopping the two from grabbing Mick's knife and finishing the job. It's not often the case in horror movies that the tables are turned in such a manner, and the killer is at the mercy of the survivors, so it's frustrating to see that they don't capitalise on this golden opportunity there and then.
