10 Horror Movies That Deserve A Reboot

1. Pumpkinhead (1988)

MGM & United Artists

When his young son is accidentally killed by a group of rowdy teenagers, Ed (a phenomenal Lance Henriksen) seeks the help of a local witch to enact vengeance by summoning the eponymous monster. This is Pumpkinhead, a beloved cult favourite which blends monster movie and slasher flick to remarkable effect.

Boasting practical effects that still hold up remarkably well today, Pumpkinhead told a tragic tale of revenge wrapped in an intoxicating Southern Gothic atmosphere. Pumpkinhead would later return in sequel Blood Wings in 1993 and made-for-TV instalments Ashes To Ashes and Blood Feud in the mid-2000s. While the subsequent entries built upon the creature's lore, their inability to capture the magic of the original resulted in their disappointing reception.

Pumpkinhead remains one of the most unique slasher films ever made over three decades after its initial release. Despite the collection of increasingly underwhelming sequels, fans have long hoped for a follow-up that would do justice to the original film

This film has deserved a reboot that captures the spirit of the 1988 classic for years now. With numerous reboots being proposed, the most recent coming from Paramount in 2021, it's possible that moviegoers could see Pumpkinhead's return soon.
