10 Horror Movies That Deserve A Reboot

2. Event Horizon (1997)

Helmed by Paul W.S Anderson, this '90s sci-fi horror saw a group of astronauts hired to investigate the sudden reappearance of the titular spaceship. Upon boarding the vessel, however, the crew soon realise they've entered a gateway to Hell and soon fall prey to an onslaught of disturbing events and nightmarish visions.

The intent was for this film to go all-out on its graphic content. Anderson's original cut was so gruesome, in fact, that the studio insisted that it should be re-edited. This resulted in large chunks of the violence and plot being axed from the final product, especially relating to the fate of the previous crew. While there are still glimpses of grotesque imagery, the excessive cuts turned the filmmaker's original vision into a generic and jumbled outing that failed to make a mark at the box office.

Despite heavy studio interference, audiences saw enough potential in this film for it to earn a cult following over the years.

While the loss of the original footage means that a definitive director's cut is extremely unlikely, there's more than enough interest from fans to see what an unapologetic version of Hell in space could look like.
