Tucker & Dale vs. Evil may have bombed spectacularly, but it's since garnered recognition for the way it flips conventions about how horror heroes and villains are portrayed.

When friendly hillbillies are mistaken for murderous kidnappers, Tucker and Dale do all they can to prove their innocence. However, the loveable bumpkins' behaviour is always misconstrued, leading to ridiculous and gory hijinks.

Now, Tucker & Dale vs. Evil's initial failure seemingly doomed any chance of a sequel getting greenlit, but four years after its release, director Eli Craig announced a follow-up called Tucker & Dale Go to Yale was being brainstormed. The proposed instalment would be a hybrid of Good Will Hunting and Texas Chain Saw Massacre. (Tucker star Alan Tudyk envisioned the story having a structure similar to From Dusk till Dawn.)

Although the lead actors were busy with other projects, they insisted the sequel was in active development for years, though 2017 saw Tudyk announce that it's unlikely Tucker & Dale Go to Yale will see the light of day, despite the fact that the script was finished.

Even though fans are clamouring for the buffoonish duo's return, plans haven't moved forward in over a decade.
