10 Horror Movies That Deserve A Sequel (But Will Never Get One)

2. Planet Terror

Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez collaborated on a double feature called Grindhouse that released in 2007, serving as a throwback to exploitation flicks of the 1970s. Rodriguez's contribution, Planet Terror, was a lot of fun, embracing OTT zombie gore, pulpy action, and self-aware humour. Also, that bombastic rock soundtrack is a work of art.

The campy thriller may have died a slow death at the box office, but it has since developed a cult following. Given how Rodriguez has sequalised many of his properties in the past, it'd be neat if Planet Terror received the same treatment.

After seeing the lead, Cherry Darling, transition from go-go dancer to unapologetic badass with a machine gun for a leg, Planet Terror's ending felt less like a conclusion and more like a launchpad for that character. A sequel could see Cherry be drawn into a wider conspiracy involving corporations attempting to weaponise the virus that was at the heart of Planet Terror, and the tone could remain entrenched in the grindhouse style, while escalating the scale with new infected variants and rival factions.

Even though the hardcore audience would love to see Planet Terror 2, there's no hint that a sequel will ever come to fruition.
