10 Horror Movies That Flopped Hard In 2022

5. Men

Annihilation director Alex Garland's latest release is a folk-horror film, which features Jessie Buckley and Rory Kinnear in the leading roles. It garnered a mixed reception from critics, but it didn't seem to be very popular with general audiences.

The movie centres on Harper, a recently widowed woman who, following the violent death of her abusive husband, rents a rural cottage. However, strange and unsettling interactions with the men of the nearby village slowly destroy the tranquil solitude of the countryside.

Some critics have mixed feelings about Garland's narrative treatment of themes of gendered violence, although they did praise Buckley and Kinnear's performances as well as the film's bizarre and unnerving visual direction.

With barely $11 million in worldwide box office receipts, Men is unlikely to have generated a healthy profit, to say the least. The general public just didn’t seem to connect to the movie in any sort of meaningful way.

A miserable D+ was given by CinemaScore, a company that grades movies according to audience surveys. On Rotten Tomatoes, the critic approval rating is 69%, while the audience score is 39%.
