10 Horror Movies That Flopped Hard In 2022
4. The Legend Of La Llorona
For a much-needed vacation, Andrew, Carly, and their son Danny head to a remote property in Mexico. Signs portraying missing children greet them as they enter the town, setting a dismal mood.
The family becomes aware of the myth of La Llorona, the vengeful spirit of a mother who lingers by the water's edge and fills people with dread.
It's hard to speak against a movie that features the legendary character actor Danny Trejo in action, but even he isn’t able to lift The Legend of La Llorona out of its muddy, convoluted mediocrity.
Trejo and the rest of the cast deliver their lines in a flat, unenthusiastic manner that, if we’re being honest, fits the quality of the script itself. It seems like a lot of the people involved with this production were only trying to collect a paycheque, and that doesn’t exclude director Patricia Harris Seeley.
Whatever vision she might have had did not manifest properly on the screen which is a shame because La Llorona had some potential to become a cult slasher flick that niche audiences would talk about for years to come.
Sadly, none of the characters are compelling enough for anyone to care.
