Based on H.P. Lovecraft’s short story of the same name, phantasmagoric cosmic horror Color Out Of Space follows the Gardner family’s descent into chaos when an incomprehensible alien colour begins to warp reality around them.

Starring Nicholas Cage as an alpaca farmer, this film already begins on a fantastically insane note even before things start to go horribly wrong. It's only when the titular colour arrives via a meteor that crashes near the Gardners' home, that events escalate to extraordinary heights of madness.

With the colour taking hold over the family's minds in addition to the surrounding area, it doesn’t take long for the film to enter the realm of grotesque body horror when the colour’s presence merge organic materials together, transforming plants and animals into monstrous creatures; the most horrific of all being what happens to Theresa Gardner and her young son.

By the time the finale comes around, this sci-fi horror has become a kaleidoscopic fever dream of mesmerising purples, psychedelic imagery, and Cage going full Cage. The colour’s intensity is so overpowering, it causes reality to disintegrate, leaving viewers in awe at what they’ve just seen unfold in front of them.
