10 Horror Movies That Just Aren’t Scary

1. It Chapter Two

It chapter 2
Warner Bros.

To be honest, there’s a very good argument to be made that the first of Andy Muschietti’s It films could be worthy of a place on this list. Regardless of the few good scares the 2017 It does serve up, however, they all end up redundant as this second outing takes any momentum achieved by the first movie and just completely takes the wind out of its sails.

Stephen King’s original It novel may well be best described as a dark coming of age tale, yet these two movies are both pegged as straight-up horrors. And while that first picture does just about enough to get by as what would classify as a horror film, It Chapter Two stumbles and falls to a frightless, overblown mess of a conclusion.

Making things worse for It Chapter Two, its one genuine scare – the adult Beverly tormented by Pennywise in the visage of a creepy old lady – was given away in the all of the sequel’s trailers and promo spots.

If you didn’t know better, you could easily mistake It Chapter Two as some sort of trippy satire. Instead, this was supposed to be a nerve-twitching, jaw-dropping horror that, sadly, neither twitched nerves nor dropped jaws.
