10 Horror Movies That Wasted Brilliant Concepts

5. Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness

The most obvious argument here is that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is not a straight-up horror movie, which in fairness it isn’t. However, directed by the legendary Sam Raimi, there are enough elements throughout that can place the movie into this particular genre, even if loosely.

The premise of the movie was one that had Marvel Cinematic Universe fans licking their lips. After Spider-Man: No Way Home brought the two previous Spider-Men to the MCU from their respective universes, the Multiverse of Madness promised to go much further with the entire multiverse concept.

The thing about the multiverse is that by its very definition, somewhere among the literally infinite universes, everything that could ever happen will be happening in some way, shape, or form. This opened the door to all kinds of titular madness, and amazing other-worldly universes you couldn't even imagine.

Unfortunately, there wasn’t anything close to madness involved, and only a handful of different universes were explored. There were some trippy shots of Wanda Maximoff and a couple of horrific monsters involved, but where literally anything could happen, the MCU instead chose to take us to a universe in which the main difference was that red means go. What a waste.
