10 Horror Movies That Would Have Made Better TV Shows

1. Interview With The Vampire

Vacancy 2007
Warner Bros.

Interview with the Vampire wasn't just a great adaptation of Anne Rice's novel. This macabre and melancholic horrorfest is directly responsible for reigniting the vampire subgenre during the 1990s. Before that, vampire films were as dead as... well... vampires.

So, if the film is so influential, why convert it to television?

One word; Lestat. Even though the film is well directed and the performances are fangtastic, the French Nobel turned vampiric antihero, Lestat de Lioncourt, is unmistakably the story's standout. The character is so enigmatically captivating, he instantly became the face of Rice's entire Vampire Chronicle saga.

Considering the acclaimed author has been writing about Lestat for over 40 years, a television series feels like a better vehicle to explore the character than a two-hour movie. By incorporating elements from the 13 books he appears in, we can look at Lestat's youth, his transformation into a vampire, his rise to power, his job offer from the Devil, and his attempt to reclaim his humanity. (Although the TV series should probably ignore the part where Lestat joins a rock band and visits Atlantis. Those books were a bit weird.)
