10 Horror Movies Which Broke The Fourth Wall To Scare You

8. The Last Horror Movie

The Devil's Chair
Troma

Released by legendary exploitation film distributors Troma in 2003, The Last Horror Movie is a tonally muddled British found footage horror.

Not as artful as the earlier Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, this grimy film purports to be a genuine snuff movie wherein the protagonist is a serial killer recording his own murders. Throughout the film's gory runtime, he frequently questions the audience's motivations to continue watching.

The film attempts to touch on a lot of the questions about screen violence raised by earlier films such as Michel Haneke's Funny Games and Man Bites Dog, but the low-rent look and unintentionally goofy effects make this one a little less effective.

However, the film does feature a deeply creepy closing twist, as the smug murderer informs the viewer that they're watching the only copy of this film. The last lines heavily imply that the killer is preparing to hunt down you, the viewer, although this nasty shock does admittedly work better if the film is rented rather than streamed or watched for free on YouTube.
