10 Horror Movies Which Insult Your Intelligence

5. Frogs

Nobody is going to argue that a story involving murderous frogs sounds silly, but there are plenty of campy B-movies involving killer animals - Arachnophobia, Mimic, Black Sheep, and The Birds for example - that worked.

Considering how many creepy-looking amphibians there are, devising a movie surrounding fiendish frogs doesn't sound like the worst idea in the world. However, not only is 1972's Frogs a travesty, but it feels like false advertising.

George McGowan's nature-themed horror opens with a family heading to an island estate for a birthday celebration. Shortly after arriving, they are besieged by hostile turtles, alligators, tarantulas, crabs, birds, snakes, leeches, lizards, and butterflies.

Oh, and also frogs.

Since the croaking critters only commit one on-screen fatality, there's no explanation for why they're the only animal featured in the movie's title. Contrary to what the poster insinuates, the film contains no giant frogs capable of swallowing a human whole. Rather than looking scary, the chorus of frogs often look tired or bored.

Obviously, nobody was expecting this campy flick to be a masterpiece, but when a creature feature is called Frogs, the bulk of the plot should involve... you know... frogs.
