10 Horror Movies With The Worst CGI

7. One Missed Call

One Missed Call was a 2008 remake of the 2003 movie of the same name.

It's not clear exactly what advancements had been made in those 5 years that warranted remaking the original Japanese horror movie, but it's pretty clear that it wasn't anything to do with CGI.

One Missed Call's premise borrows fairly heavily from The Ring, with victims receiving mysterious voicemails dated a few days in the future in which they die screaming into their phones.

It actually sounds like it could have once contained some promise, but One Missed Call really didn't pull the trigger on any of its more interesting points, particularly in the visual department.

There's plenty of bad CGI throughout, with characters hallucinating nightmarish features onto the faces of passers-by, but the worst - and funniest - moment comes late in the movie, when protagonist Beth is exploring an abandoned hospital.

In the hospital, she encounters a doll. But this isn't just any doll; it's infant-sized, covered in dirt and sitting upright, playing with a phone.

It's clearly meant to be a scary moment, but it's so surreal and poorly rendered that it's simply hilarious.
