10 Horror Movies You Didn't Know Got Cancelled

9. Arachnophobia

The Invisible Man Elisabeth Moss
Buena Vista Pictures

A remake of the classic 1990 creature Arachnophobia was first announced in June 2022, with James Wan (Saw, Insidious, The Conjuring) producing and original director Frank Marshall set to serve as an executive producer.

Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day) was soon enough hired to write and direct the new film, though as of this past April, he quietly left the project due to the ever-popular "creative differences."

Only when asked about the movie while promoting his new film Drop did Landon reveal that he'd exited the picture, though he did offer a few tantalising morsels of what his Arachnophobia remake would've looked like. Landon revealed that his script brought back exterminator Delbert McClintock (John Goodman) from the first film and had a significant body horror element, but ultimately, there was an unspecified aspect of his screenplay that made the studio "very nervous."

This version of Arachnophobia is dead in the water, even if Landon did suggest that the studio is open to reviving the project without him, so we'll just have to wait and see.
